Wide and Flexible Shoes
Our barefoot shoes are designed to allow you to move naturally, develop strong feet, and a build a solid foundation for a life of movement.
We make minimal shoes for happy, healthy feet. Every one of our shoes is handcrafted in the USA in our workshop in Oregon. We work hard to make Softstar a socially and environmentally responsible company, as well as giving a good experience to both our employees and our customers.
In 2025, Olie passed on the made-in-USA legacy of SOM to Softstar. This acquisition allows us to continue his commitment to quality and minimalist footwear, and we’re excited to bring an even wider variety of barefoot shoe options to you.

Our mission is to support USA families and jobs by producing high-quality clothing in the USA at an affordable price. By keeping our production in the USA we provide jobs and a tax base that supports our communities.
The Nickols operated the company from 2002 until 2019 and, sadly, Lawson passed away in 2020.
We continue to operate from our Arcanum, Ohio headquarters and the Nickol family remains involved in the strategy and daily operations of the company.
